The Almanac Shouters - A Long Road Home (2010)

"The Almanac Shouters are a folk band based out of Kalamazoo, Michigan, named in reference to the Pete Seeger/Woody Guthrie project the Almanac Singers. They formed in May of 2009 and have two self-released works, a 5 track demo and a full length album “A Long Road Home.”“It’s just one big, rag-tag piece of work, with youthful idealism, anger, and excitement bursting at the seams. The album is far from perfect, but that’s also where much of its charm and humanness comes from.” -soundsgoodink.comThe band has a strong DIY focus, with an emphasis at playing house venues, info shops, and community spaces."

I convinced my pal Ike ( to purchase this album and I'd like to give a big thanks to him because it's fucking awesome! If you're ever feeling lost and find yourself miles away from home, listen to this album because it really makes you feel you're there. Your heart will instantly be warmed and it will make you think about the simpler days when times were easy. This is truly a great folk punk album to add to a collection.

  1. Hey, just wanted to say that I'm in this band and I'm glad you enjoy it. Appreciate the kind words. Keep an ear out for our new stuff in late February.

  2. Oh wow, are you serious? That's awesome! I'm sorry if I threw your album up for free download but I just had to share it with everyone. A friend of mind purchased it for me, actually. I just enjoyed it so much that it that I had to throw it up on my blog. I have your band's bandcamp bookmarked so I will defiantly be checking in! :)
