Oroku - Living Through The End Time (2006)

From last.fm:

"Oroku was a hardcore/punk band from Lawrence, KS that relocated to Seattle. They played dark and atmospheric crust in the vein of From Ashes Rise. Lisa from Garmonbozia was added to the band playing cello and gave it a more atmospheric sound. In 2006 they released “Living Through The End Time…” on Inimical Records. The band broke up in June 2007."

It's so fucking sad to see a band with such talent and only one release break up shortly after. The sludge-yness and atmospheric vibe that Oroku delivered is unrivaled. When the first song off the album played, Vulture, the immediate first thing that popped into my mind was the sludge band Isis and the way the "chug chug chug chug" riffs sounded so similar to that. Lisa from Garmonbonzia makes an appearance in the album playing her cello in a few songs which adds a lot to the overall feel of the album and makes it so fucking pleasurable to listen to. My jaw literally dropped at the end of the song "The End Is Near" because the it was so brilliantly executed and the way it moved me was astounding. If you're a fan of stuff like Downfall of Gaia, Nux Vomica, and Fall Efrafa then this album is right up your fucking alley.
