No Cops For Miles - A New Diction (2008)

From last.fm:

"Ska core band formed in L.A. 2007 with tendencies similar to the phenomenon known as Crack Rock Steady. You can download their EP “A New Diction” free of charge from their myspace. WICKED!"

Like ska? Like hardcore? Well you're in for a treat then! No Cops For Miles have been one of my absolute favorite crack rock steady bands for a long time now. Those of you who don't know, crack rock steady is a genre coined by the pioneers, Choking Victim, which was a pun off the ska-esque related genre called rock steady but added the "crack" party to it because they lived the life style of crusty motherfuckers. The genre obviously incorporates ska, crust, and some death metal elements. Topics range anywhere from animal liberation to homophobia. The fan base and the lack of bands makes this kind of style of playing very obscure to the modern person.

"A New Diction" brings forth the raw sound that is No Cops For Miles and more importantly crack rock steady. The song "Stresser Depresser" pretty much sums up how I feel about myself and this world in a nutshell. I could just remember those long summer days trekking into the city looking for a job just looping this album the entire day and contemplating how I'm going to get out of this one-horse town. This band hits home close in a way that none ever have. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do!
