Purple Mercy - Self Titled (2008)

From last.fm:

"It is told… Five them descended from the cosmic Mt. Doom in search of one ancient relic: The Volcano™. The only way to attain said relic, was to summon the arcane, ancient, oldest ones through damned amplifiers and primordial crystalline hash jewels.Fueled by their astral sacrament, they joined initiated forces to overthrow the bloodless, withered sects of autonomous, mechanical poseurs. By means of the Aquarian global hotbox, subversive hordes were awakened as to bring forth salvaged antiquities, further drawing the relic in grasp.Upon bearing witness to the aforementioned activities, Caius Caligula road his motorcycle through their scorched barren wasteland, sought by pineal compassing, and delivered unto them post-draconian mystery realms to bring about the end of times and shitty music known and hated by all today. As the unholy bastard’s tale goes, his blasphemous and horrid swamp rites drove them into eternal transdimensional madness and life abuse never ending. Things could always be different for you."

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAH! I'm like... tripping the FUCK out man. Is that a fucking unicorn flying in the sky?! HEY, IT'S JIMI HENDRIX. PLAY WITH US JIMI HENDRIX, PLAAAAAAAAY! Fuck fuck fuck fuck STRAWBERRY FUCKING FIELDS!! Okay, I'm not really high or anything but this would be the EXACT effect Purple Mercy would have on you if you were tripping balls with a bit of LSD. They have that slow, heavy tempo with a psychedelic vibe that'll have you angrily bobbing your head. A lot of instrumental comes into play when listening to this band which makes for a very chill listening experience. I noticed that there is a presence of a strong hardcore-esque sound which makes the band all the more angrier. It reminds me of Burning Love and Kyuss but throwing in the some really sludgey riffs. It's Western sounding but it isn't quite that. There's just a really hard side to it I can't put my finger on it. If you're looking for stuff similar to Black Ships, Seven Sisters Of Sleep, and anything "sludgecore" related, be sure to check this out.
